The newest upload of a JAM Comic is here! This one is another from my youth. The influences on this one should be pretty obvious. My favorite part of this one was the villain, who makes an appearance in another comic that will be coming soon. So please enjoy Dark Leopard #1

In honor of Star Wars day, here's a drawing of my dog as Chewbacca. My dog is a mixed breed called a Cheweenie. Half Chihuahua, half Dachsund. It made me think of Chewbacca, so using Colors 3d on the 3DS I drew this pic. I've put a pic of my puppy, Beans next to it just for reference. The drawing has also been added to the ART section of the site.
Ok. Pretty obvious what this new JAM Comic I've uploaded is. I was a HUGE fan of the 60's Batman show starring Adam West. However as a kid I took the show to be a serious attempt at a Batman show and decided to spoof it in comic book form. So, please enjoy a spoof of a satire. I give you Fatman and Rubin The Boy Blunder!
I've added a new snack bag drawing today. This one features the popular Piggy and Gerald from Mo Willems book series. My daughter has always enjoyed Mr. Willem's books so she got a real kick out of seeing these characters on her snack bag at school. Check it out! This and more artwork are available in the ART section.
This is Smiley Bones. I actually created him about 15 years ago, maybe more. I'm thinking of making him the logo for this site. There's no big statement behind it, I just think it's funny and silly. I may try to create new versions of him as this site evolves.
The pic is also in the ART section. I've added a new section to the site called, Creation Inspirations. The idea is to have an area to share things that aren't my own creations, but are interesting or inspiring to me. It's also a place to give my two cents on things going on in games, movies, television, etc.
Also, I think it would be a great place to share the creations of other people who visit this site. So, if you have something you created a long time ago, or even today, sent me an e-mail or tweet and I'll share it here! The newest JAM Comic is up! The comic this time is the first issue of Furry Fighting Kung Fu Ferrits. (Yes, I know it's spelled wrong.) The influence for this one should be painfully obvious. As a kid, I figured going with mammals instead of reptiles was differentiation enough. To be fair, some actual publishers did the same thing. It's now available to read in the JAM Comics section. Give it a read and see what you think of this creation from my younger days. Like the cover says, it's "The most totally tubular comic of all'!
Below you will find a picture I created a few years ago. As a school Librarian, my wife would always have a club called Battle of the Books. They read several books throughout the year and at the end of the year, a competition where they answer questions about the books they have read. I would always film the competition and edit together into a fun video that she would show the school. I have always gone a bit over the top with these videos as that would get the best reaction from the kids. Over the course of time the openings of these videos got more and more crazy. For this particular year I created a truly over the top intro. As part of that intro I needed to show a cave painting. I created the painting first in Photoshop, then created a 3d cave interior using Vue 6 Easel. Textured the painting onto the cave and Viola! An ancient cave painting extolling the power of books. I will post the other parts soon and maybe pull just the intro of the video and post it too.
You can see both the cave painting and the final render in the Art section in a gallery. Every day my daughter brings a snack to school in a brown paper bag. Since first grade I have been drawing pictures on her snack bags so she has something fun to look at when snack time rolls around. Some are more complex than others. I only recently started taking photos of my snack bag drawings. I have decided to share them here on this site. This first one is actually from the first day of school last year. It's the only one I took a picture of last year. As a tradition, I always ask my daughter if she has any requests for the first day of school. This was what she asked for: She wanted a picture of us playing at a playground. To be clear, I don't draw on a new bag everyday. I wait until it's ripped or worn and then use a new bag. I feel like it would be wasteful to use a new bag every day. I will create a gallery for my snack bag art in the Art section of the site. Enjoy!
The first of my old JAM Comics is up for everyone to see! The comic is issue #1 of Night Stalker. This is a comic I created years ago as a kid and is obviously inspired by Batman. Down to the costume design and character background. Obviously as a kid copyright doesn't really enter into your mind and I thought Night Stalker was the coolest thing ever!
I'm working on making reading these comics as I post them as easy as possible so I've included a PDF download version or you can just read it in browser. To celebrate to first comic to be released here on the site, I created a remastered version of the cover below. No new art was created, just some coloring and cleaning up of the lettering. Just click on the cover to get to the issue or head over to the JAM Comics page. |
JAM Who?Joe has always liked to write, draw, film, edit, and create. Life has kind of gotten in the way of doing these things. This blog is an effort to change that. ArchivesCategories |
